| Note: |
If the club face's tip is behind the hozzle (ie
tipped backwards) the ball will slice away from
the golfer's body - and it is described as having
an 'open club face'. If the club face is ahead of
the hozzle, the ball should hook across in front
of the golfer's body - and it is described as
having a 'closed club face'.
The Open club face is useful when trying to get
the ball into the air very quickly. When combined
with having 'soft' hands, it is possible to
quickly whip the club head underneathe the edge of
a ball, in order to put the ball into the air when
in a difficult position (specifically, for short
yardage chipping). |
