Get a chipping net (a 2-foot wide circular net
that sits on the floor is under $15 at Wal-Mart),
and a chipping mat (or a bath mat actually worked
best). Chip the ball across your floor - make it
fly about 6 feet - and you'll get the idea of the
trajectory that you get from your different clubs.
In particular, consider using a Lob Wedge (or
maybe an XX Wedge) to get the ball up in the air.
An additional practice is to use the bristol board
circles when chipping, in an effort to get the
ball to fly 1 or 2 yards, and roll over the
circle....which matches what happens when we roll
into the rough (or even a deep fringe) near the hole! |
