Summer League

When: Wednesday nights, 7:00
Where: Halifax Fairlanes

When bowlers are absent, do not subtract 5 pins - use their "real" average
if more than 9 strings have been bowled.

Stars of the Week is pins-over-draft average (the average used to
make up the teams). Fallen stars are the people that are most UNDER
their draft average.

Aug 2/06:
The final night of the regular season! We have 3 weeks of
pins-over-average playoffs to bowl, with 3 divisions of 4 teams.

First place wasn't settled until the 2nd last string. My team (Taurus) won
the first two matches, and David Cooper's team (Pontiac) won the first,
but lost the 2nd.

Cory McIsaac had a 376, includig a triple strike (the only marks) in his
first string, for a 140. Vince Cheeseman had a more quiet, but slightly
better, 383. Michelle Gravelle also had a good 329 for Team Pontiac.

Jul 26/06:
There is one week to go before the playoffs, and my team has
edged forward with a 4 point lead (hurray), lead by my 371 this
week (hurray).

There is also a tight race for averages. Allan Pippy had a 385 to
move into 2nd place behind Eric Banfield. David Cooper and Roy
Wheeler could also catch Eric (especially if Eric throws another 310).
On the other hand, Betty Kelly has been consistent, and has risen to
108 - and over 9 points ahead of anyone else (who has bowled all summer).

Fallen Stars: -46 Eric Banfield (311), -35 Sue Blackler (259),
-35 Eric Morash (280), -32 Mike MacEachern (256),
-31 Dwight Williams (308), -31 Susan Russell (263)

Stars: 28 Harold Rennie (346), 28 David Cooper (358),

Jul 12/06:
Pins were a bit loose. As a whole, the league was +106 pins over draft
average.

Nathan Berrenger came in late - and threw a 133 to start. Roy Wheeler
had a 141, and I (Matthew Cleveland) had a 372! Hurray!
Ok. The self promotion is over.

The 8 points also put my team into first place by 4 pts. Hurray!
Whoops.

Jul 5/06:
Not a great night for most bowlers, but for some it was good.
Dennis Bradshaw had a 152 - the highest single for the men so far.
Betty Kelly had a 360, with a 130, which were both the highest for
the women so far. Other people....didn't have it so good.

Eric Banfield's team only took 2, and 2 other teams took over 1st place
(Cooper and Cleveland - woo hoo!).

Please note that it has also been confirmed that we will have a 3 week
pins-above-average roll off, with 3 or 4 divisions, for the last 3 nights of
bowling.

Fallen Stars: -47 Nathan Berringer (253), -42 Dwight Williams (297),
-37 Lorne MacFarlane (224), -29 Armand Lantaigne (283),
-18 Mike MacEachern (270), -17 Bob Snair (307)
Stars: 18 Laura Slaunwhite (288), 18 Carolyn Isner (288),

127 Betty Kelly, 124 Roy Wheeler
Triples: 360 Betty Kelly, 349 Dennis Bradshaw,
340 Doug McDonald, 336 Allan Pippy

Jun 28/06:
Some big triples thrown tonight. Eric Banfield had a 384 (the highest so
far for the men), and Betty Kelly had a 351 for the women. Susan Russell
had the 2nd highest triple for the women with a 339.

Singles: 146 Eric Banfield, 140 Eric Morash, 137 Cory McIsaac,
135 Mike Powell, 134 Vince Cheeseman
Triples: 385 Eric Banfield, 366 David Cooper, 361 Cory McIsaac,
360 Eric Morash, 353 Vince Cheeseman

Fallen Stars: -54 Glenn LeBlanc (300), -39 Armand Lantaigne (273),
-32 Lou Gannon (244), -26 Lorne MacFarlane (235),-25 Bill Downey (287)

Stars: 29 Emily Miles (317), 33 Betty Kelly (351), 36 David Cooper (366),
39 Lisa Raftus (264), 43 Cory McIsaac (361), 44 Allan Berringer (308),
45 Eric Morash (360), 45 Susan Russell (339)

Jun 21/06:
In a battle of the 1st place teams, Eric Banfield's took 8 from
Matt Cleveland's team - on the strength of Wayne Manuel having the
highest triple (374) after 5 weeks bowled. Eric was MIA, but we had
a few spares - Rusty Boutilier, Mel Pippy, and Shirley Snair (she runs the
league, but because we had an extra bowler, she is acting as a spare).

Fallen Stars: -42 Eric Thorne (243), -32 Lou Gannon (244),
-31 Doug McDonald (320), -31 Glenn LeBlanc (323)
Stars: 30 Lisa Raftus (255), 34 Linda MacDonald (274),
34 Roy Wheeler (358), 40 Amanda Dean (331),
61 Bill Swinimer (367), 80 Wayne Manuel (374)

Singles: 149 Bill Swinimer, 142 Wayne Manuel, 136 Dwight Williams,
135 Allan Pippy, 127 Glenn LeBlanc
Triples: 374 Wayne Manuel, 367 Bill Swinimer, 358 Roy Wheeler,
348 Mike Powell, 348 Dwight Williams

Jun 14/06:
Due to the addition of Bill Swinimer, team Pontiac now has a -10
handicap, and Team Kia (Mike Powell's team) was awarded 3 additional
points for the previous week, when the handicap should have first been
applied. However, no points were subtracted from Team Pontiac, because
it had not been agreed to before the night started. In the other night that
Bill bowled, 10 pins would have made no difference.

Vince Cheeseman had a big 373, but no male has yet reached 375, and
no female has made 350. As a result, I'm lowering the brackets, in order
to more properly display significant nights on the team sheets.

Linda McDonald had a nice 287.....and with another few pins, she would
have beaten Doug McDonald, who had a 290!

Singles: 138 Bill Swinimer, 136 Glenn LeBlanc, 131 Wayne Manuel,
130 Vince Cheeseman, 128 Roy Wheeler
Triples: 373 Vince Cheeseman, 355 Glenn LeBlanc, 347 Wayne Manuel,
346 Eric Banfield, 343 Bill Swinimer

Jun 7/06:
Week 3 saw a few doubles flying around - both Betty Kelly and
Roy Wheeler had them in their 3rd string (they are on the same team)
and they each had good nights.

Dwight Williams is injured, and will miss at least a few weeks.

Stars of the week: 30 Carolyn Isner (300), 31 Kay Clarke (286),
31 Armand Lantaigne (343), 35 Gerry Pottie (341), 41 Roy Wheeler (365),
54 Wayne Manuel (348)

Singles: 140 Vince Cheeseman, 138 Armand Lantaigne, 134 Eric Banfield,
133 Roy Wheeler, 131 Doug McDonald
Triples: 371 Glenn LeBlanc, 368 Eric Banfield, 365 Roy Wheeler,
358 Mike Powell, 348 Allan Pippy

May 31/06:
Week 2 is complete (I forgot to post anything for week 1, Sorry!).
A few team changes were made, but things look reasonable for the
rest of the summer.

No one has qualified for one of the league high score lists - Men 375,
women 350. Maybe this week will be a bit better.

Singles: 140 David Cooper, 138 Eric Banfield, 129 Carolyn Isner,
126 Glenn LeBlanc, 125 Eric Banfield
Triples: 359 David Cooper, 348 Eric Banfield, 338 Vince Cheeseman,
331 Allan Pippy, 331 Mike Powell
