The league as a whole was -352 vs draft. Might have been something to do with those pitchers of beer, rather than lane conditions. Chris Hollett's team came first, because Gerry Dunn bowled Matt Harnett, and Harnett threw a 386....with 100, 183, 103 - what consistency! But, it was enough. Team O'Laughlin fell into a tie for 4th and 5th, after Randy Slaunwhite threw a 406 - the only 400 thrown. By chance, the two teams bowled each other the final night, and they ended up tied in the standings. Team Slaunwhite also ended up with the high single and triple for the night. Team Harrison - Todd Harrison, Mark Crookshanks, Ken McVeigh, and Adam Jenkins - finished with anothre goose egg. Ending the section at a VERY sad 14/90. So, Todd, have you considered having your toenails ripped out so you don't go over the line again? Someone said you went over about 10 times. I was on the lane next to you, and it was only about 9. Todd had a 252, and was very pleased that it wasn't 251, I think. Fallen Stars: -94.5 Todd Harrison (252), -61.1 Chris Niven (271), -58 Jason MacPhee (293), -54.6 Chris Hollett (348), -40.2 Gerry Dunn (339) Stars: 25.7 Billy Quinn (347), 26.4 Matt Porter (369), 30 Paul Hector (345), 31.4 Matt Cleveland (356), 57.7 Randy Slaunwhite (406) Singles: 183 Matt Harnett, 159 Randy Slaunwhite, 140 Doug McDonald, 137 Mark O'Laughlin, 136 Mark Reesor Triples: 406 Randy Slaunwhite, 386 Matt Harnett, 369 Matt Porter, 366 Allie Ross, 366 Doug Blackler April 25/06: The league was -37 pins vs draft. The dream is over for Marko's team - they lost all 8 to Hollett, and now Hollett has a 69, Dunn has 68, and team O'Laughlin has 61. Still a lot of position changes. Other than team Harrison (14-82 OUCH!), every other team is within 8 points of at least 1 other team. Cory McIsaac had a nice triple, Chris Hollett had his 14th 400+, and Donnie Larade had his 4th 400. Remember - we'll be giving out the prizes on the following Tuesday! Singles: 148 Lester Milton, 148 Donnie Larade, 146 Greg Lowe, 145 Chris Hollett, 143 Chris Hollett Triples: 406 Chris Hollett, 402 Donnie Larade, 383 Allie Ross, 378 Matt Harnett, 378 Mike Powell Fallen Stars: -57.8 John MacTavish (280), -57.8 Nick Weir (283), -42.7 Mark Reesor (317), -39 Eric Banfield (324),-36.3 Adam Jenkins (276) Stars: 30.4 Barry Preeper (364), 32.6 Allie Ross (383), 38.4 Matt Cleveland (363), 43.2 Chris Lutz (375), 47.4 Mike Powell (378), 59.7 Donnie Larade (402) April 18/06: The league was -357 pins vs draft. **Alert Alert! Fairlanes has a summer league. Thinking of bowling with the mens league in the fall? Why not try the route (for those out-of- towners) by joining us on Wednesday nights! Call the lanes at 455-5446 for more information - leave your name, phone number, home lanes, and average.**** Interesting night. With 2 nights to go, the top 3 teams all took 8 points, to get a spread of 12pts over the next team. So....big points remain, considering that the top 3 teams are still all just 1 point apart. So, Gerry Dunn is 1st, and Hollett and O'Laughlin are second. So, considering that Mark O'Laughlin has been in Moncton for a few weeks, the remaining people have been DAMN successful - Cliff McKay, David Cooper, and Matt Porter. Also, congratulations to Gerry Dunn, because his team managed to win the Lloyd Walker this past weekend. Is it a good omen for winning the division? Only time will tell...... Also, Gerry had the only 400 this week, so maybe it isn't just luck. Singles: 162 Gerry Dunn, 152 Donnie Larade, 147 Ian Niven, 145 Matt Harnett, 145 Gerry Dunn Triples: 413 Gerry Dunn, 386 Matt Harnett, 385 Mike Venedam, 378 Chris Hollett, 371 Ian Niven Fallen Stars: -71.4 Tom Webster (270), -56.9 Glen Thorne (283), -45.7 Mark Reesor (314), -42.7 Lester Milton (290), -42 Paul Hector (273) Stars: 25.1 Ian Niven (371), 26.7 Donnie Larade (369), 33.8 Gerry Dunn (413), 34.7 Billy Quinn (356), 64.3 Mike Venedam (385) April 11/06: League was -47 pins vs draft (52 bowlers). However, Matt Harnett was MOWING them down, for a 476, with 159,134,183. He bowled Mark Reesor's team, and beat him by 53, 49, and 48 pins (Mark said that at least it wasn't 50 every string). Gerry Dunn's team took over 1st place by a point over Hollett and O'Laughlin. Randy Slaunwhite's team went from 1st to 4th, after losing 6 to Hollett. Fallen Stars: -56 Ken McVeigh (283), -44.9 Doug Blackler (313), -36.5 Joe Slaunwhite (280), -35.3 Doug McDonald (319), -33.9 Ian Niven (312), -33.7 Mark Reesor (326) Stars: 31.7 Cory McIsaac (347), 33.7 Donnie Larade (376), 37.4 Matt Porter (380), 44.2 Chris Lutz (376), 56.9 Chris Niven (389), 90.2 Matt Harnett (476) Singles: 183 Matt Harnett, 159 Matt Harnett, 150 Steve Harnett, 146 Chris Hollett, 145 Todd Harrison Triples: 476 Matt Harnett, 389 Chris Niven, 385 Chris Hollett, 382 Steve Harnett, 380 Matt Porter April 4/06: League was - 216 vs draft. Tight tight tight! 4 teams are within 3 points of first. Randy Slaunwhite's has a 1 point lead over Hollett and O'Laughlin, and they have a 1 point lead over Dunn. Other teams are also just a few points back! Bill Swinimer visited and spared. The team single went to Banfield (495), and the team triple went to Dunn (1366 - Jim Slaunwhite's had 1363!) Singles: 146 Donnie Larade, 145 Donnie Larade, 144 Chris Hollett, 143 Steve Harnett, 142 Mike Bennett Triples: 408 Donnie Larade, 397 Chris Hollett, 391 Steve Harnett, 386 Mike Bennett, 385 Mark Crookshanks Fallen Stars: -48.2 Gerry Dunn (331), -41.6 Matt Porter (301), -41.3 Adam Jenkins (271), -38.1 Chris Niven (294) Stars: 33.1 Glen Thorne (373), 34 Steve Harnett (391), 35 Mike Bennett (386), 35.7 Cory McIsaac (351), 38.5 Mark Crookshanks (385), 65.7 Donnie Larade (408) March 28/06: League as a whole was -178 pins vs draft. Team triple went to Randy Slaunwhite (1406), and the single went to Steve Harnett (530). Team standings are tight. Mark O'Laughlin's team still leads by 3 points over Randy Slaunwhite's and Gerry Dunn's. Hollett is 1 point back of them, and then there is a 3 way tie 7 points behind him - at 34/30. Singles: 145 Matt Harnett, 144 Allie Ross, 144 Gerry Dunn, 141 Steve Harnett, 141 Ryan Shannon Triples: 392 Steve Harnett, 386 Tom Webster, 381 Allie Ross, 380 Matt Harnett, 375 Gerry Dunn Fallen Stars: -58.8 Roy Wheeler (267), -49.3 Doug McDonald (305), -46.6 Chris Hollett (356), -45.6 Matt Cleveland (279), -44 Jim Slaunwhite (319) Stars: 20.3 Cliff McKay (338), 22.4 Mike Powell (353), 29 Paul Hector (344), 30.6 Allie Ross (381), 35 Steve Harnett (392), 44.6 Tom Webster (386) March 21/06: The league was -349 vs draft. The team single went to Randy Slaunwhite's team (510), while the triple went to Doug McDonald (who had a 410 vs Chris H) with a 1407. They needed every pin, since they beat Chris's team by 6, then 6, and then lost to them by 11 (for a 1406 triple for Chris - the 2nd highest triple for the night!). Fallen Stars: -67 Ken McVeigh (272), -52.9 Doug Blackler (305), -47.6 Peter Blackler (280), -45.7 Mark Reesor (314), -43.6 Russell Shannon (299), -41.3 Adam Jenkins (271) Stars: 21.9 Bob Snair (342), 27 Steve Harnett (384), 27.4 Greg Lowe (373), 28.4 Glenn LeBlanc (371), 55.7 Doug McDonald (410), 68.7 Donnie Larade (411) Singles: 154 Glenn LeBlanc, 150 Doug McDonald, 148 Jim Slaunwhite, 147 Doug McDonald, 147 Jason MacPhee Triples: 411 Donnie Larade, 410 Doug McDonald, 384 Steve Harnett, 373 Greg Lowe, 373 Chris Hollett March 14/06: The league was -419 vs draft. Things tightened up considerably, as Team O'Laughlin took 2 points, and Team hollett closed in with 7 points. O'Laughlin still leads with 35, Hollett has 33, and there are 3 teams with 30 (each of whom took 6 points). This coming week two of those 30 pointers bowl off - Randy Slaunwhite's team vs Jim Slaunwhite's team. There were no 400's, but Matt Porter was REALLY close (399). Jim Slaunwhite had a 390 - including a double to finish in order to win the game. Chris Hollett also had a 390. Singles: 151 Matt Porter, 147 Chris Hollett, 145 Darrell Jollimore, 145 Joe Slaunwhite, 144 Roy Wheeler Triples: 399 Matt Porter, 390 Jim Slaunwhite, 390 Chris Hollett, 387 Doug McDonald, Matt Harnett 372 March 7/06: The league as a whole was -154 vs draft. Team O'Laughlin remains in first place, expanding their lead with another 8 (now 37/7). Team Slaunwhite lost all 8, falling into a 3 way tie, after they bowled against the Blackler / Harnett juggernaut (but it was Peter Blackler with 388 and Steve Harnett with 382, rather than their better-known relatives). And to Richard Vassos....go to #$(*&. Yes, I did have your father's score mixed up back in November, when he went out for the visit. Keep your own nose in Ontario, and leave the Maritimes alone! :) Team high single (514) and team triple (1452) both went to team Reesor. Fallen Stars: -65.6 Chris Hollett (337), -60 Eric Banfield (303), -46.8 Matt Harnett (339), -39.9 Darrell Jollimore (285), -39.6 Barry Preeper (294), -38.3 Ryan Shannon (307) Stars: 33.4 Greg Lowe (379), 34.4 Mike Powell (365), 41.5 Art Vassos (361), 43.7 Donnie Larade (386), 46.4 Russell Shannon (389), 60.4 Peter Blackler (388), 80.9 Chris Niven (413) Singles: 167 Chris Niven, 159 Donnie Larade, 156 Greg Lowe, 151 Steve Harnett, 150 Doug Blackler Triples: 413 Chris Niven, 389 Russell Shannon, 388 Peter Blackler, 386 Donnie Larade, 382 Steve Harnett Feb 28/06: League as a whole was -358 pins (for 49 bowlers - we were missing 17 people!). For the 3rd week in a row, Chris Hollett's team took the high single, and high triple! Damn. Of course, that is primariy because Greg Lowe had his second 400 in a row (Chris H had 362), and the lowest score on the team was a 341 for Ross Townsend (Rob Murphy had 361). Doug Blackler's team got a hard fought 8 - beating their opponent, Todd Harrison's team, 392 to a 375 (remember, each team's draft average is about 450!). That was some BAD bowling. Gerry Dunn ran into Jim Slaunwhite's team, and lost 8 points, dropping from 1st to 7th. The primary culprits were Art Rudge's double to finish the second string, and Jim's 160 in the 3rd - which happened to be the 2nd and 3rd highest strings bowled by anyone in the league. Steve Harnett also had the misfortune of bowling against Greg Lowe. Greg threw the highest single for the night - a 165 - on the strength of a 4-bagger starting in the 2nd or third. He threw a 9 pin break on his attempt for the 5th strike. Fallen Stars: -58.7 Mark Reesor (301), -51.3 Doug McDonald (303), -50.7 Lester Milton (282), -45.2 Gerry Dunn (334),-42.3 Adam Jenkins (270) Stars: 32.1 Ian Niven (378), 39.4 Matt Cleveland (364), 40.6 Tom Webster (382), 43.5 Art Vassos (363), 56.4 Greg Lowe (402) Singles: 165 Greg Lowe, 160 Jim Slaunwhite, 151 Art Rudge, 147 Jason MacPhee, 146 John MacTavish Triples: 402 Greg Lowe, 382 Tom Webster, 378 Ian Niven, 376 Jim Slaunwhite, 375 Matt Harnett Feb 21/06: The league was hot! + 289 pins vs draft. Team single and triple went to Chris Hollett - who was MIA! He must be a jinx - their team got 8 points, and in the previous 2 nights, they had 2 and 4. Wild news: Todd Harrison suffered a head injury when he was visciously attacked by a steel bar (hanging from a sign he was ducking under). Many stiches, and MIA. The league wishes you well (but I thought I heard some laughter in the background......that'll teach you to go looking for directions to a liquor store). We would also like to take a moment to continue our reflections on the dangers of alcohol. Gerry Dunn was horribly molested at another tournament, resulting in the unspeakable photo linked to on my main page. The woman attempted a human sacrifice, but all she did was get the incisions marked before his valiant teammates broke him free. At least... we don't think his team was involved......nah. Good guys. Respectable. (Thanks for the pictures Phil !) As per Phil West: "Mark O, Bob S, Gerry D with along side of Dad and I to Port Hawkesbury to a tournament and finished 5 th($300).Both Gerry Dunn (132) and I (168) won singles plus I had the high for the tournament and recieved $100 for it. We had a lot of fun and we to the China King Restaurant after the bowling was finished. Here is a picture of us and what happened to Gerry after he passed out on the chair." And finally....to the leagues scores: There were three 400's, but the more interesting ones were Bob Snair and Art Rudge. They both fell asleep in the middle! Bob had 147, 96, 138 for 381, while Art had 145, 102, 147 for 394. Fallen Stars: -60 Jason MacPhee (291) ,-53.8 John MacTavish (284), -43.3 Doug McDonald (311), -41.6 Mike Powell (289), -39.3 John Marriott (318), -34.6 Glenn LeBlanc (308) Stars: 41.4 Barry Preeper (375), 46 Mike Bennett (397), 47 Eric Banfield (410), 57.4 Art Rudge (394), 60.9 Bob Snair (381), 63.5 Joe Slaunwhite (380), 65.4 Greg Lowe (411) Singles: 149 Matt Harnett, 147 Bob Snair, 147 Art Rudge, 146 Eric Banfield, 145 Nick Weir Triples: 411 Greg Lowe, 410 Eric Banfield, 400 Gerry Dunn, 397 Mike Bennett, 394 Art Rudge Feb 14/06: The league was +41 vs draft this week. Mark Reesor had a big week last week (and took 6 pts from my team), and had a nasty 301 this week. Gerry Dunn threw a 331, but in his Friday night league, we'd like to point out that he threw a 206 single, for a 468 triple. This week there were 3 four hundreds, with 415 Jim Slaunwhite, 404 Matt Harnett, 401 Chris Hollet. With 4 bowlers per team, we are out REALLY early compared to the past. I think it is going over fairly well. Fallen Stars: -58.7 Mark Reesor (301), -56.3 David Cooper (283), -48.2 Gerry Dunn (331), -34.7 Cliff McKay (283), -32.3 Doug McDonald (322) Stars: 30.7 Cory McIsaac (346), 37.3 Mike Venedam (358), 40.1 Ian Niven (386), 44.4 Matt Porter (387), 50.5 Mark Crookshanks (397) 52 Jim Slaunwhite (415) Singles: 158 Ian Niven, 153 Chris Hollett, 148 John Marriott, 146 Matt Harnett, 145 Allie Ross Triples: 415 Jim Slaunwhite, 404 Matt Harnett, 401 Chris Hollett, 397 Mark Crookshanks, 387 Matt Porter Feb 7/06: League as a whole was +96 vs draft. We didn't have enough bowlers, so we had to go to 14 teams of 4 (56 bowlers) from 12 teams of 5 (60 bowlers). The format is much faster, and since both the Dartmouth pro league(s?) and Spryfield use that format, it wasn't that much of a shift for some people. It definitely magnifies any big or low nights. In addition, if someone is missig a bowler, the night will be EXTREMELY fast. Lat cancellations on the day of the draft included Barry Soward and Bill Downey. Remember - when taking scores, NEVER ROUND UP, when a bowler is missing. There were three 400's this week - two on the same team (Doug Blackler and John MacTavish). The biggest night went to Chris Hollett with a 423. Special note should be made for Nick Weir and his 372 - 105, 97, 170. He threw the 170 against me - having a double-9-pin-break-double. Close to a 5-bagger! Then he had an open box, and threw another strike! Fallen Stars: -60.8 Matt Harnett (325), -54.5 Art Vassos (265), -41 Eric Banfield (322), -39.6 Mike Powell (291), -29.7 Mike Venedam (291) Stars: 34 Mike Bennett (385), 34 Norm Mason (370), 39.5 Mark Crookshanks (386), 49.1 Doug Blackler (407), 74.2 John MacTavish (412) Singles: 170 Nick Weir, 159 Doug Blackler, 155 Mark Reesor, 151 Ryan Shannon, 151 Chris Hollett Triples: 423 Chris Hollett, 412 John MacTavish, 407 Doug Blackler, 386 Mark Crookshanks, 385 Mike Bennett Jan 31/06: League as a whole was - 266 vs draft. It was the last night of the section, and there were a few ties. We split on points, with pinfall being ignored. There is also an intention to discuss what to do when using averages - we should NEVER ROUND UP (which makes sense). I'd also like to point out that I didn't make any direct comment about the fact that Steve Harnett had a 401 last week, and his son Matt had a 410. What a family! Of course, I've heard it rumoured that Steve donated his hair to Matt, so that he'd be able to bowl with better balance - such dedication to creating a family legacy! (Ha Steve - you shouldn't pick on the guy doing the write up......) GONE: Greg McCallum, Matt Legacy, Trevor Zinck, Pat Birchill, Brad Given (not returning is Trevor Feltmate), and Todd Sisco. Maybe....John Marriott (2nd hand - not confirmed). NEW: David Cooper, Darrell Jollimore, Jason MacPhee, Mike Bennett. Larry Lovett volunteered but hasn't bowled lately in a candlepin league. As a result...we are SHORT! Anyone else who wants to bowl the last 14 weeks should contact me at 429-4122 (include name and phone, average and home lanes). You can also leave your name at the bowling alley (455-5446), but I've often not received messages left there...... The captain's draft meeting will be at 6:30 next Tueday (Feb 7). 1 Blackler - #12 (Blackler) 60/28 2 McDonald - #10 (McDonald) 55/33 3 S Harnett - #8 (Harnett) 54/34 4/5 Banfield - #6 (Banfield) 48/40 4/5 Reesor - #5 (Reesor) 48/40 6 Lowe - #7 (Lowe) 44/44 7/8/9 Slaunwhite - #3 (Slaunwhite) 42/46 7/8/9 Dunn - #1 (Dunn) 42/46 7/8/9 M Harnett - #2 (Harnett) 42/46 10 Ross - #11 (Ross) 38/50 11 Marriott - #4 (Marriott) 29/59 12 O'Laughlin - #9 (O'Laughlin) 26/62 Singles: 152 Doug McDonald, 145 Mark O'Laughlin, 144 Ryan Shannon, 141 Doug Blackler, 140 Gerry Dunn Triples: 398 Mark O'Laughlin, 395 Doug McDonald, 370 Matt Harnett, 369 Gerry Dunn, 367 Matt Lagace Fallen Stars: -52 Matt Porter (326), -43.7 Barry Soward (325), -39.9 Russell Shannon (306), -38.8 Jim Slaunwhite (332), -35.5 Mark Reesor (329), -33.5 Roy Wheeler (292) Stars: 23.8 Matt Lagace (367), 24.4 Rob Murphy (355), 31 Trevor Zinck (364), 36.5 Doug McDonald (395), 39.1 Joe Slaunwhite (352), 39.2 Mark O'Laughlin (398) Jan 24/06: League as a whole was + 21 pins above draft! Some teams did really good, others did @#$%!@#. Doug Blackler (Hollett)'s team is guaranteed 1st with 1 week to go. There are clusters of teams fighting for the 2nd to 5th placing, and anothre cluster in the 6th to 10th spots. Lots of $ to be won in the final night....if only there wasn't a big snowstorm forcasted. I assume we bowl, but some teams may not show up - and automatic 8 points can be huge (Steve Harnett's team got it this past week - as Cliff McKay did the work of 5 men). Draft is coming up - probably on Sunday: GONE: Greg McCallum, Matt Legacy, Trevor Zinck, Pat Birchill, Brad Given (not returning is Trevor Feltmate) NEW: David Cooper, Darrell Jollimore, Lloyd Cruikshanks, Jason MacPhee, Larry Lovett volunteered. Stay tuned for more, as information becomes available! Singles: 159 Chris Hollett, 155 Donnie Larade, 150 Eric Banfield, 149 Glenn LeBlanc, 149 Steve Hobson Triples: 410 Matt Harnett, 402 Donnie Larade, 401 Glenn LeBlanc, 401 Steve Harnett, 395 Chris Hollett Fallen Stars: -78.9 Gerry Dunn (318), -65 Nick Weir (301), -64.7 Greg Lowe (295), -42.5 Allie Ross (313), -36.7 Ray Burton (317) Stars: 41.3 Steve Harnett (401), 44.5 Roy Wheeler (370), 47.3 Steve Hobson (371), 49.9 John MacTavish (391), 55.7 Glenn LeBlanc (401), 60.9 Donnie Larade (402), 63.8 Norm Mason (386) Jan 17/06: The league was -125 pins vs draft. Jim Slaunwhite had the only 400 - 121, 184, 116 for 421. He had a shot at 200, but it wasn't to be. Chris H had a bad night - 358 - and Doug Blackler's team (which has Chris Hollett) only took 2 points. That was due to Barry Soward's 399, Tom Webster's 369, Steve Harnett's 354, and Rob Murphy's 344. Team Harnett wound up with the high single and the high triple. Draft is coming up, GONE: Greg McCallum, Matt Legacy, Trevor Zinck, Pat Birchill, Brad Given (already quit). Borderline: Steve Harnett, Eric Banfield. NEW: David Cooper, John Harrietha???? Confirmed as NOT coming back: Bert Hudson. So....the math dictates that the league either find a way to get people, or we end up being significantly short. Call 429-4122 if anyone intends to come back, or join - leave a message for Matthew (your phone, your average, and your home lane). We start the new teams on Feb 7. Fallen Stars: -80.7 Greg Lowe (279), -53.9 Chris Hollett (358), -51 Ryan Shannon (300), -47.2 Adam Jenkins (269), -38.8 Mark O'Laughlin (320), -38.5 Mike Powell (293) Stars: 32.5 Matt Cleveland (355), 33.3 Tom Webster (369), 43.1 Peter Blackler (356), 44.3 Randy Slaunwhite (386), 48.4 Cliff McKay (370), 50.2 Jim Slaunwhite (421) Singles: 184 Jim Slaunwhite, 155 Todd Harrison, 154 Barry Soward, 148 Eric Banfield, 146 Cliff McKay Triples: 421 Jim Slaunwhite, 399 Barry Soward, 390 Eric Banfield, 386 Randy Slaunwhite, 384 Matt Harnett Jan 10/06: For 54 bowlers, the league was -285 pins vs draft. There were multiple 400's for the first time in a while - 425 Matt Harnett, 415 Eric Banfield, and 406 Chris Hollet. Brad Given may have quit. Team Blackler now has a big 12 point lead, with only 24 points left to be won. Second place is wild - after Blackler's 52 points there are: 40,38,38,36, and 35 points. The nightly single went to Blackler (614) while the nightly triple went to Doug McDonald's team (1744). Fallen Stars: -81.6 Ian Niven (267), -42.6 Chris Lutz (291), -37.2 Matt Lagace (306), -35.8 Mark O'Laughlin (323), Stars: 19.3 Randy Slaunwhite (361), 26.5 Greg MacCallum (370), 29 Mark Crookshanks (365), 34 Trevor Zinck (367), 35.9 Matt Harnett (425), 37.3 Tom Webster (373), 53.8 Eric Banfield (415) Singles: 159 Greg MacCallum, 156 Eric Banfield, 153 Chris Hollett, 153 Matt Harnett, 145 Eric Banfield Triples: 425 Matt Harnett, 415 Eric Banfield, 406 Chris Hollett, 373 Tom Webster, 370 Greg MacCallum Jan 3/06: League as a whole was -525 vs draft (55 bowlers in attendance). Scores are still down. Randy Slaunwhite had his second big night in a row. Chris Hollett had the only 400 (exactly 400) for the night. The standings are getting to be a bit layered - Blackler 44, Lowe and Reesor with 36, and three others with 32. Still 32 big points to be won, but with Blackler's team averaging 585, and the next highest being 569 right now, it doesn't look difficult. But....there is only an 8 point spread - and anyone can have a bad night. Special congrats to Doug Blackler - by averaging 122 (vs 117 draft) and Norm Mason averaging 116 (vs 107 draft). Steve Harnett said some naughty words this week, but I'm sure that his son gave him a stern talking-to on the way home. Sigh.....his wife must be a saint. Barry Soward is continuing to climb up the averages, and whlie he may not think so, he is about 250 pins behind Matt Harnett and Gerry Dunn, in week 18 of 36. Barry had the 2nd highest triple for the 2nd week in a row. Singles: 154 Ray Burton, 150 Chris Hollett, 144 Doug Blackler, 144 Jim Slaunwhite, 143 Barry Soward Triples: 400 Chris Hollett, 397 Barry Soward, 384 Jim Slaunwhite, 381 Ray Burton, 379 Doug Blackler Fallen Stars: -76.5 Doug McDonald (282), -52.1 Chris Niven (295), -51.2 Adam Jenkins (265), -45.7 Steve Hobson (278), -40.7 Steve Harnett (319 Stars: 28.3 Doug Blackler (379), 28.3 Barry Soward (397), 32.8 Norm Mason (355), 33.3 Randy Slaunwhite (375), 64.1 Peter Blackler (377) Dec 27/05: A very forgettable night. Lots of bowlers missing. No spirit. The league was -762 pins versus the draft averages (wow). The 4th high triple of the night was a 356 by Nick Weir. Of the 46 bowlers that showed up, 39 were below their draft average at the end of the night. Only Randy Slaunwhite excelled, having a 390, with two 141 games. Singles: 141 Randy Slaunwhite, 141 Randy Slaunwhite, 139 Ian Niven, 139 Art Vassos, 138 Nick Weir Triples: 390 Randy Slaunwhite, 374 Barry Soward, 367 Chris Hollett, 356 Nick Weir Dec 20/05: League was -148 vs draft. Team Blackler took over 1st again, with 8 points. Team Banfield and Team Reesor are both 4 points back. Right now, there is only 2 points between 5th and 10th, so the standings (though early) are very tight. As a reminder, we do bowl on Tuesday night. Ross (1812,6) vs S Harnett (1704,2) O'Laughlin (1708,4) vs Lowe (1681,4) Dunn (1639,4) vs Reesor (1628,4) Banfield (1741,8) vs Slaunwhite (1693,0) McDonald (1663,0) vs Blackler (1793,8) M Harnett (1731,6) vs Marriott (1634,2) Singles: 164 Jim Slaunwhite, 162 Chris Hollett, 151 Mark O'Laughlin, 150 Matt Porter, 147 Ken McVeigh Triples: 403 Chris Hollett, 403 Mark O'Laughlin, 397 Allie Ross, 391 Barry Soward, 387 Matt Harnett Fallen Stars: -55.4 John Marriott (310), -52.1 John MacTavish (289), -43.5 Barry Preeper (288), -42.3 Bill Downey (282), -40 Ross Townsend (278) Stars: 36.4 Ken McVeigh (367), 41.5 Allie Ross (397), 44.2 Mark O'Laughlin (403), 45.8 Norm Mason (368), 68.1 Peter Blackler (381) Dec 13/05: For anyone who is curious: my website host went down, and took MANY days to bring it back up. My saurkraut rotted...sorry Vic. I also have had laryngitis off and on for a week, and I had a fender bender... so never complain that I'm not posting the scores fast enough! I'm also about to distribute the final rounds of the Worlds - for that I apologize, it slipped my mind. The files were distributed recently. Chris Hollett was MIA (his team lost 6, and they fell into a tie for first - even though Doug Blackler [captain] had a 379 the night) - only problem was Gordon Langille was on the other team and also threw a 379. Team scores are a logjam. Standings: 22, 22, 20, 18,18,18. In a battle of the bottom, both Matt Harnett's and Mark O'Laughlin's teams doubled their point totals - Matt got 6, and Mark got 2 - in a battle of the bottom of the standings. Singles: 165 Gerry Dunn, 155 Mark Crookshanks, 149 Eric Banfield, 147 Doug Blackler, 146 Greg Lowe Triples: 399 Gerry Dunn, 379 Gordon Langille, 379 Doug Blackler, 376 Barry Preeper The league was -184 vs draft. Chris Hollett came back and was healthy, throwing a 415. Matt Harnett had a tough luck 420 for 2 points. Mike Bennett (401) and Pierre Lahaye (343) spared. Singles: 171 Chris Hollett, 170 Mike Bennett, 160 Matt Harnett, 145 Mark Reesor, 144 Doug McDonald Triples: 420 Matt Harnett, 415 Chris Hollett, 401 Mike Bennett, 391 Doug McDonald, 388 Doug Blackler Fallen Stars: -63.9 Mike Venedam (261), -43.1 Chris Niven (304), -34 Matt Porter (344), -28.8 Mark O'Laughlin (330), -27.7 Ray Burton (326) Stars: 30.9 Matt Harnett (420), 32.5 Doug McDonald (391), 35.1 Joe Slaunwhite (348), 37.3 Doug Blackler (388), 40.1 Peter Blackler (353), 42.4 Cliff McKay (364) Nov 29/05: League was -197 vs draft. Chris Hollett was sick - and only bowled 1 string (a 97) then Doug Blackler stepped it up after he left and they took 6. The high single and triple belonged to Chris Lutz, who had a nice 167, for a 392 triple....and he beat Gerry! Fallen Stars : -63.1 Matt Harnett (326), -57.7 Greg Lowe (302), -56 Matt Porter (322), -51.9 Gerry Dunn (345), -49.1 Chris Niven (298) Stars: 29 Mark Crookshanks (365), 29.3 Doug Blackler (380), 39.4 Ian Niven (388), 52.4 Ken McVeigh (383), 57.1 Mike Venedam (382), 58.4 Chris Lutz (392) Singles: 167 Chris Lutz, 161 Steve Harnett, 155 Pat Birchill, 152 Art Vassos, 148 Ian Niven Triples: 392 Chris Lutz, 388 Ian Niven, 384 Pat Birchill, 383 Ken McVeigh, 382 Steve Harnett Nov 22/05: The league as a whole was - 130 under draft, with quite a few people missing on the first night of this new section. Doug Blackler's team was dominating, throwing 633/645/594. Steve Harnett's team had a nasty start - losing the first game by almost 100 pins (with a 487), then throwing a 607, and losing the last string by 1 lousy pin, earning only 2 points. Singles: 163 Chris Hollett, 159 Mark Reesor, 151 Mark Reesor, 146 Doug Blackler, 144 Mike Powell (2) Triples: 443 Mark Reesor, 411 Chris Hollett, 397 Pat Birchill, 387 Mike Powell, 382 Doug Blackler Fallen Stars: -63.8 Jim Slaunwhite (307), -62 Matt Porter (316), -58.3 Bill Downey (266), -55.5 Greg MacCallum (288), -44.5 Lester Milton (296) Stars: 42.8 Norm Mason (365), 44.8 Adam Jenkins (361), 54.6 Bob Snair (372), 55.5 Mike Powell (387), 78.5 Mark Reesor (443) Nov 8/05: Final night of the 1st section - time for a redraft! For the final night....Hollett and M Harnett couldn't solve anything, and each team took 6 points to keep a tie for first. Dunn held 3rd, and Barry Soward made a big jump and took 8 to finish in a tie for 4th/5th with Doug Blackler (who split 4/4 with Marriot...who finished 1 point back at 6th). Brad Given's team had the hardest time - being passed by 3 teams the final night, when they lost 8 to Jim Slaunwhite. And... Tim Carrigan also took 8 points (Slaunwhite and Carrigan's teams were the bottom 2 teams in the league...but they both took 8 the final night). Soward got the high single for the night, and Hollett took the team single. As for final averages....the top 12 returning bowlers are captains...if they can make it to the bowling alley at noon on Sunday. Tim Carrigan is not returning, so there will be a few interesting captains (Mark Reesor, Greg Lowe, and Eric Banfield). Doug Blackler, Todd Harrison, and Mark O'Laughlin (perhaps) won't be captains. Singles: 158 Eric Banfield, 152 Chris Niven, 150 Mark Reesor, 148 Mark O'Laughlin, 147 Gerry Dunn Triples: 413 Mark Reesor, 411 Tim Carrigan, 386 Eric Banfield, 386 Mark O'Laughlin, 386 Matt Harnett Fallen Stars: -48.3 Paul Hector (270), -45 Norm Mason (291), -41 Frank O'Connell (289), -35 Donnie Larade (316), -30.5 Gordon Langille (301), -30.5 Ken McVeigh (304), Stars: 32.7 Matt Cleveland (354), 36.8 Eric Banfield (386), 37.5 Steve Hobson (339), 38.2 Darrell Martin (379), 42 Tim Carrigan (411), 72.2 Mark Reesor (413) Nov 1/05: League as a whole was + 178 pins. Draft is to be held on Sunday, November 13, at noon. If someone wants to join for a section, leave a message at: 455-5446 (bowling alley) - and leave your name, avg, and home alley. We PROBABLY have enough bowlers, but we have 2 guys who must drop out for a section (they become "new" bowlers for the next draft). Hollett and Matt Harnett's teams remain tied at the top (both got 6). Chris' team lost their 3rd game with a 520, vs 579...against Pat Birchill (Chris had 408, Pat had 316). Matt Harnett's team lost their 1st game 559 vs 586 against Brad Given's team. Matt had a 456. The team standings are extremely interesting. Top 2 spots are locked up, but everyone else has an interesting chance. Dunn (3rd) bowls Matt H, while Chris H bowls Steve Harnett (can Dad do his son proud???). And in honor of Frank "da tank" O'Connell....Doug B has you beat - looks like you lost your bet! (Frank had a bit of a hot start, and said he MIGHT beat Doug Blackler....but never count Dougie out!) Also, in honor of Gordon Langille, you still have both Donnie Larade and Todd Harrison beaten by .75 in the averages - one more night, and you can officially say you beat the hell out of them (Gordon has been the high average on his team for quite some time now, and he just needs to hold on for one more week). Singles: 178 Matt Harnett, 153 Tim Carrigan, 146 Barry Soward, 145 Chris Hollett, 144 Doug Blackler Triples: 456 Matt Harnett, 408 Chris Hollett, 394 Lester Milton, 386 Tim Carrigan, 382 Donnie Larade Fallen Stars: -56 Pat Birchill (316), -55.4 Mark O'Laughlin (319), -28.3 Cory McIsaac (275), -25.2 Matt Lagace (303), -23 Ray Burton (319) Stars: 25.9 Trevor Zinck (364), 31 Donnie Larade (382), 32.7 Doug McDonald (372), 44 Barry Preeper (374), 56.6 Bill Downey (368), 76.9 Lester Milton (394), 84.9 Matt Harnett (456) Oct 25/05: League as a whole was + 264. 2 weeks to go, Hollet and Matt Harnett's teams are tied for 1st at 50pts. Then there is a 40, a 39, a 36, and a lot of 34's and 33's. Matt and Chris have yet to bowl. High triple went to Chris H's team 1849 vs Harnetts 1844. Chris came in late, didn't get a mark until the 6th, finished with 124 (won by 10 pins - he marked out), and then threw 185 and 149 for a 460. Barry Soward's team lost 8 by default (1 injury, 1 work, and 1 MIA) that dropped them out of contention. Fallen Stars: -50 Pat Birchill (322), -38.7 Mike Venedam (297), -35.3 Chris Lutz (295), -34.9 Todd Sisco (314), -33.7 Todd Harrison (326) Stars: 37.9 Trevor Zinck (376), 43.8 Matt Lagace (372), 46 Ray Burton (388), 51.5 Ken McVeigh (386), 65.5 Chris Hollett (460), 71.5 Steve Hobson (373) Singles: 185 Chris Hollett, 153 Steve Harnett, 149 Chris Hollett, 145 Ray Burton, 144 Trevor Zinck Triples: 460 Chris Hollett, 388 Gerry Dunn, 388 Ray Burton, 386 Ken McVeigh, 385 Brad Given Oct 18/05: League was +338 above draft. Fallen Stars: -53.9 Art Vassos (280 - but he was ill), -50 Norm Mason (286), -44.9 Doug Blackler (313), -43 Donnie Larade (308), -40.2 Eric Banfield (309) Stars: 44.5 Chris Niven (379), 56 Tim Carrigan (425), 56.5 Gordon Langille(388), 58.6 Ross Townsend (367), 61 Pat Birchill (433), 73.7 Jim Slaunwhite (431) Singles: 164 Tim Carrigan, 159 Jim Slaunwhite, 158 Gerry Dunn, 156 Pat Birchill, 153 Tim Carrigan Triples: 433 Pat Birchill, 431 Jim Slaunwhite, 425 Tim Carrigan, , 392 Gerry Dunn, 390 Barry Soward Oct 11/05: League was +384 pins above draft. Barry Soward had a nasty night with -31, but Russell Shannon carried him with a 387 (they knocked my team out of second place, and into 4th. Chris Hollett's team retook 1st (38pts) over Dunn (37), and Matt Harnett moved into 3rd (Matt had his 2nd best night this year, with 419). With 32 points left to be won, things are very interesting. Singles: 167 Gerry Dunn, 160 Chris Hollett, 153 Roy Wheeler, 153 Greg Lowe, 152 Matt Harnett Triples: 419 Matt Harnett, 401 Chris Hollett, 399 Pat Birchill, 393 Russell Shannon, 388 Mark O'Laughlin Fallen Stars: -58.6 Ian Niven (293), -31.8 Barry Soward (327), -27 Frank O'Connell (303), -24.1 Trevor Zinck (314), -23.2 Glenn LeBlanc (326) ,-22.7 Steve Harnett (331) Stars: 40.7 Cory McIsaac (344), 40.8 Russell Shannon (393), 41.2 Mike Powell (367), 43 Ray Burton (385), 47.9 Matt Harnett (419), 78.5 Steve Hobson (380) Oct 4/2005: League as a whole was +396, which was pretty loose. The standings changed a lot, as Hollett got 2 points, while Gerry Dunn's, and John Marriott's got 6 each, to leapfrog into 1st and 2nd. Gerry Dunn was mean and wouldn't let Frank O'Connell have the high single of the night, throwing 178 after Frank had a 169 in his 2nd (they weren't bowling each other's teams, but they were side-by-side). Singles: 178 Gerry Dunn, 169 Frank O'Connell, 168 Matt Harnett, 159 Doug McDonald, 149 Steve O'Laughlin Triples: 451 Gerry Dunn, 434 Matt Harnett, 410 Pat Birchill, 399 Ray Burton, 399 Jim Slaunwhite Fallen Stars: -54 Norm Mason (282), -35.4 Mark O'Laughlin (339), -28.4 Rob Murphy (304), -26.2 Tom Webster (311), -24.7 Darrell Jollimore (299), -24 Donnie Larade (327) Stars: 39 Frank O'Connell (369), 39.2 Darrell Martin (380), 39.3 Steve Harnett (393), 41.7 Jim Slaunwhite (399), 49.7 Doug McDonald (389), 57 Ray Burton (399), 62.9 Matt Harnett (434), 65.2 Gerry Dunn (451) Sept 27/05: Pinfall was mediocre. League was +19 over draft average, spread over 56 bowlers. Tim Carrigan tore out a ceiling tile while trying to throw a pin down the lane, and that caused 2 teams (Marriott and Carrigan) to shift to 19/20. (Steve Harnett was happy - he was the LAST person to do that last year - but we won't forget you!) Pins on 19/20 were HARD, and we had Peter Blackler and Bob Snair combine to be 100 pins under draft - so things were a bit skewed. Our lanes were about 250 pins below draft. In other news….Chris Hollett was having a bad 2nd string…until he threw a triple with 9 on it (for 155). His team had 1800 again, and took over top spot at 28/12. John MacTavish filled the last spot in the league - but due to his higher average, the team will be taking a -5 on each string. Brad Given (407) and Randy Slaunwhite (379)'s team got 0 points because they ran into Mark Reesor (425) and Barry Soward (374). They lost by 5pins, 14pins, then 4 pins (ouch!). Fallen Stars: -54.5 Peter Blackler (268), -49.9 Doug Blackler (308), -44.8 Bob Snair (284), -42.9 Art Vassos (291), -40.8 Steve O'Laughlin (288) Stars: 37.9 Randy Slaunwhite (379), 43 Donnie Larade (394), 45.6 Art Rudge (384), 50.6 Brad Given (407), 63.8 Eric Banfield (413), 84.2 Mark Reesor (425) Singles: 155 Chris Hollett, 154 Donnie Larade, 153 Eric Banfield, 148 Chris Hollett, 147 Randy Slaunwhite Triples: 425 Mark Reesor, 423 Chris Hollett, 413 Eric Banfield, 407 Brad Given, 394 Donnie Larade Sept 20/05: Pins were loose again, plus 307 pins. Chris H had another big night of 464, but Gerry Dunn had a 443, so it still isn'ta runaway. Tim Carrigan took over for Sean O'Flaherty and had a strong 388. I, however, had a 123-81-82, and am officially the worst fallen star of the night. #$(*&. Fallen Stars:-35.3 Matt Cleveland (286), -31.9 Art Vassos (302), -31.7 Mike Venedam (304), -28.2 Russell Shannon (324), -26.2 Joe Slaunwhite (284) Stars: 52.4 Ian Niven (404), 53.5 Gordon Langille (385), 57.2 Gerry Dunn (443), 69.5 Chris Hollett (464), 71.6 Rob Murphy (404) Singles: 170 Chris Hollett, 166 Chris Hollett, 162 John Marriott, 162 Ian Niven, 157 Gerry Dunn Triples: 464 Chris Hollett, 443 Gerry Dunn, 404 Ian Niven, 404 Rob Murphy, 398 Barry Soward Sept 13/05: Pins were a bit loose - league was +385 over draft. However, Chris H had 486, Todd Sisco 417, and Eric Banfied had 415, so they accounted for half of that. Experience trumped age, as Steve Harnett defeated his little fella, Matt. Singles: 190 Chris Hollett, 171 Eric Banfield, 157 Todd Sisco, 155 Matt Cleveland, 151 Randy Slaunwhite Triples: 486 Chris Hollett, 423 Todd Sisco, 415 Eric Banfield, 391 Gerry Dunn, 384 Brad Given Fallen Stars: -61.2 Glenn LeBlanc (288) ,-47.7 Todd Harrison (312), -43.8 Bob Snair (285), -39.4 Mark O'Laughlin (335) Stars: 47.9 Lester Milton (365), 65.8 Eric Banfield (415), 74.1 Todd Sisco (423), 91.5 Chris Hollett (486) Sept 6/05: Minor dispute - the two teams that only had 2 bowlers last week, have received 0 points - even though at least 1 person has quit the league. Either way, their points have now been removed. Changes! Ed Mahar has been transferred to New Brunswick - replaced by Norm Mason, who threw 158-105-106. Strong start! Frank O'C had another big night - 387! "Pretty good for a 50 year old!". Singles: 158 Norm Mason, 147 Matt Legacy, 147 Doug McDonald, 145 Eric Banfield, 144 Chris Hollett Triples: 392 Gerry Dunn, 390 Doug Blackler, 387 Frank O'Connell, 379 Eric Banfield, 376 Matt Harnett Robert Boggs has not shown up for 2 weeks, and has now been replaced by Barry Preeper. James Grant may also be replaced if he can't be contacted. I spoke to each of them individually, damn it! Glen Thorne almost carried the day against Gerry (John Marriott wasn't able to make it, so Glen went anchor) - the last box, he got the strike, and needed 9. He smashed the headpin, and got 7 - leaving the 7-8-10 with wood….but the wood did #($*@&, and we tied on pinfall. Gerry Dunn was the high scorer for the 2nd week in a row - but Chris Hollett had to bowl against Todd's Singers - Todd Harrison, Frank O'C, Ken McV, Donnie Larade, and I think even Gordon Langille gave it a try. They SING! BADLY! And Adam Jenkins was bowling next door, and he can't carry a tune if his life depended on it. It wasn't fair. People can't bowl under those conditions….it just ain't right. Doug Blackler had a nice 390. The league as a whole was -158 vs draft. Fallen Stars: -61.4 Rob Murphy (271), -39.8 Mike Powell (286), -39 Donnie Larade (312), -38.4 Mark O'Laughlin (336) Stars: 33 Norm Mason (369), 35.9 Adam Jenkins (356), 37.3 Cliff McKay (346), 44.8 Matt Legacy (373), 57 Frank O'Connell (387) Aug 30/05: Fairly smooth start, except that in 10 lanes of bowlers we were missing 2. In the other 2 lanes of bowlers, we were missing 6! They automatically split the 8 points. I spoke to everyone personally - don't say they didn't know when we started! The lanes were "normal" - not juiced. The league was -62 pins vs draft, with very light oil. Frank O'Connell threw a 148 in his first string back after a lengthy layoff. Matt Harnett beat my team by finishing with 2 spares the last string, to win the game by 3. Gerry D beat Chris H, finishing with marks in his first game for 160 vs 138. Singles: 160 Gerry Dunn, 154 Mark Reesor, 148 Barry Soward, 148 Frank O'Connell, 145 Doug McDonald Triples: 407 Gerry Dunn, 392 Chris Hollett, 391 Barry Soward, 383 Frank O'Connell, 379 Brad Given Fallen Stars: -50.1 Trevor Zinck (288), -35.8 Darrell Martin (305), -34.2 Eric Banfield (315), -33.3 Chris Lutz (297) Stars: 32.2 Barry Soward (391), 32.5 Gordon Langille (364), 33.1 Art Vassos (367), 33.9 Lester Milton (351), 53 Frank O'Connell (383)
