section.

Team Structure: 5 men per team

May 11/04: Round 2:
Randy Slaunwhite 421, Chris Hollet 402.
The league as a whole was under its draft by 125 this final round.
The beer, and the time (finished midnight) took its toll - the most
lively thing the last round was…..Girls Gone Wild!

Another year comes to an end. Money to be distributed Tuesday,
May 18, at 7:00pm.

And to the Harnett's, ttttthhhhhbbbbtttt - I stick my tongue out
at you. These scores are hereby posted at 7:00am Wednesday morning!

May 11/04: Round 1:
John Marriott 459, Mark Reesor 430, Matt Harnett 420 (95,164,161).

Team Somerton (my team) had an 1888 vs John Marriott's 459.
I also had a magnificent triple strike.
The league was 321 pins above draft, lead by John Marriot and
Mark Reesor.

May 4/04:
League as a whole was + 207. Allie Ross 403, and Tom Webster 385,
were the Stars of the week! +47 pins.
John MacTavish has a forgettable night - 99-99-99! But, the team got 6pts.
This week will be a double, starting at 6:30. Prizes to be given out
NEXT TUESDAY. Not on Thursday, as previously announced.

Sean O'Flaherty 426, Gerry Dunn 411, and Allie Ross 403.

Apr 27/04:
Doug McDonald and Russell Shannon were the co-stars of the wee,
at +53 pins over draft. The league as a whole was + 287.
Chris Hollett had a 433 , and Russell Shannon had 404.
Chris H had 161 and 159, while Mike Venedam had a 152.

VERY close matches this week. Team Kyte beat team Somerton
1707 to 1700, Dairy Queen (Niven / MacLaughlin) beat Hollett
1748 to 1739. Given beat Pelham Electric 1782 to 1778.
9 points separate the bottom 8 teams, and 9 points separate
the top 6 teams - we have one more regular night, then we have
a double night on May 11th.

Apr 20/04:
Davey Somerton 437 (+59 above draft) is the star of the week!
Doug Blackler was a close second, with a 405, including a 181…
but he had 125-181-99 (oops). There was a new substance on
the lane - pinfall as a whole was down 75 pins below draft.
Where I bowled, we had a 1862 - highest triple since the draft, so far.
I'm assuming the mixture was applied evenly to all lanes - so it
REALLY favored people who threw with an angle, and had some power,
and if they HIT THE PIN CONSISTENTLY (straight balls punched, in general).

Greg MacCallum came in to spare for Mark O'Laughlin, who
sprained his ankle while handing someone a bowling shoe
(during a tournament that he wasn't even bowling in). Baaaaad luck.

Paul Hector had a 93 no mark (but we don't reward that anymore). Shucks.

Team standings are CRAZY! 8 points between the bottom 8 teams
(34,33,32,29,28,28,26,26).
7 points between the top 6 teams (48,46,46,44,43,41).
As a quick reminder, there is a spread of about $750, in 1st vs 14th.

Apr 13/04:
New Report! See the STARS report to see who is doing
well compared to their draft, and who is not.

Chris Hollett 404. The league as a whole was 65
pins above draft average. Chris bowled Matt Harnett, and
he had a consistent 141-138-125 vs. 103-142-135.
Allie Ross made a big difference, having a nice
370 for Matt Harnett. Gerry Dunn had the 2nd highest total, with
a 389. Doug Blackler had 383 for 3rd highest.

Jim Slaunwhite had a 159 to start his night (finished with a
double), but had a nasty 92 afterwards. Tony MacLaughlin had
152.

Team Cooper, despite having only 2 bowlers show up, managed to
earn 4 points. Never say die! My team, on the other hand, is 14th…
BUT we are only 7 points out of 8th. Everyone is clustered. 4 teams
are wtihin 6 points of first.

Apr 6/04: Bobby Kyte 421, Allie Ross 419. The league was 119 pins
under the draft average. Team Marriott got 8 points with a 1624 -
winnig one game 513 to 511! Mark Reesor has joined the league,
having a 368.

Stars / Fallen Stars of the week (pins above / below draft avg):
+54.5 Joe Slaunwhite 365
+53.0 Paul Hector 368
-47.6 John MacTavish 295
-61.0 Jason MacPhee 296

Due to various issues, we have a team with one regular bowler.
Congratulations to the determination of David Cooper - remember,
we can always use spares at this time of the year. He's earned 2
points each of the last two weeks. Due to the missing members, he
uses the low scores for two of the bowlers.

Remember that the Lloyd Walker is going to be held on April 24/25
at Fairlanes. Come in to spare! Get some practice!

Mar 30/04:
Doug Blackler 421, and Todd Harrison 401, had the only 400's, and they
bowl on the same team.

Todd Harrison had a 159, and Sean O'Flaherty 157. Peter Blackler had 156,
and Doug Blackler 155. Brad Whalen had a 81, then 129 and 123 as he
warmed up. Chris Lutz had a 399….aw damn it!

The league as a whole was 368 pins above their draft average this week.

Mar 23/04:
Thanks to Tom Webster's request, I will now inform the league that:
the League as a whole was -504 pins under their draft avg this
week (-377 prior week, and +19 for the week before).

And…don't forget to look at the BLAME report - go to the Roster
page, and see how everyone has done since the redraft.

Vic Aggas is out of the league.
Gerry Dunn finished with a triple strike to beat Chris Hollett
(which was also the first time in memory that Gerry bowled all
3 games against Chris - which also coincides with the fact that
since Gerry's return, he has been a helluva bowler, averaging
over 133 for 5 weeks). Gerry had a 183, David O'Laughlin had
a 168. Gerry had a 436, David had a 408, and Chris had 400.
Steve Harnett won the 50/50, and figured out how to bowl at last -
throwing a double shortly thereafter, and had a 144 the next game.
Wow, he really IS the father of Matthew Harnett!
And……A LOT of guys missed on bowling this week. Remember, spares
are welcome - even Barry Soward (who had a 320 this week)!

And…..the Harnetts noticed that the schedule I used for the league
had a problem. It has now been fixed. I had to manually create it!
I made sure everyone bowled on each lane only once - but that is a
Sunday night that is spent for nothing.

Mar 16/04: Chris Hollett 429, Todd Sisco 406. Lotta ties - 4 out of
7 matches! Todd Sisco had 159, and Trevor Zinck 154.

Mar 9/04: Chris Hollett 435, Matt Harnett 411, Tim Carrigan 409.
Congratulations to Art Vassos - 162. We thank the pin gods for splitting
our 3rd string, based upon Tony MacLaughlin's game-tying chip out
of the two pin, on his spare in the tenth.

Mar 2/04: John Marriott 423, Glenn Leblanc 403, Davey Somerton 401,
Chirs Hollett 400. It was a moral victory when Davey Somerton beat
Chris Hollett by a pin - we lost all 3 matches by a combined 50 pins (damn).
Gerry D had a 394 (141-110-143) to continue his strong start since his
return to the league. Bill Downey had a strong 369.

Feb 26/04: New draft - new teams. David O'Laughlin 428, Gerry Dunn 119,
Matt Harnett 411.

Feb 17/04: DOUBLE NIGHT!
Round 1: M. O'Laughlin and Bennett teams were tied. Mark's team
won the first by 3 pins, then they tied on the strength of Mike's strong
mark in the 10th, and then Mike's team won the 3rd by 16.
Tim Carrigan had a 414, Matt Harnett had a 407, and Mark Klaamas 404.
The only 2 points that Team Birchill got was by default - Todd Harrison
was late, and the team only had 2 bowlers for the first string.

Round 2: Mike's team got 4, Mark's got 6 - tie for first!
Gerry Dunn had a 426 as a spare. REDRAFT IS TO BE HELD AT 6:30
this coming week. Anyone new who wants to bowl the final 13 week section
should for call fairlanes at 455-5446. We may be 1 bowler short!

Feb 10/04: Sean O'Flaherty 427 (157-109-161), Mark O'Laughlin 420,
and Davey Somerton 403. Gerry Dunn came to spare, and had a 405
(hmmmm….might be a good draft pick). DOUBLE NIGHT! Lanes turn
on at 6, we start at 6:30. Tight race - every team has someone
who is at most 4 points away from them - except for last place Dairy Queen
(there but for the grace of the bowling gods, go we - the second
last place team). Hurray for the redraft!

Feb 3/04: Glenn Leblanc had 403 - the only 400!
Gerry Dunn came in to spare and had 388. We are bowling a regular
session on Feb 10. We'll be doing a double night on Feb 17 -
we'll start at 6:30. Many positions are still left to be decided!

Jan 27/04: Doug Blackler 414 (2nd in a row), John Marriott 410,
Sean O'Flaherty 409, Mark O'Laughlin 407, and Allie Ross 406.
Mark started the second game with a triple (157), but Todd Harrison
finished with a triple against him (155). Mark O'Laughlin's team was
in second, but got only 2 points. Doug had his 414 against
Chris Hollett (why Doug's as good as Tom Brady [sometimes]).
Team Marriott had a 680 their second string, against the 1st place
Team Bennett. Tim Carrigan went home after his second string,
as he had threatened before he started, after throwing a 100 (we
then won our first string in 9 tries).

Jan 20/04: Mike Bennett 415 vs Doug Blackler 414 (0 pts). James
Grant threw a 392 as spare. Rick Dwyer won't be joining the league.
Spares are welcome! Standings are solidifying - only 5 more nights.
Mark O Lauglin and Mike Bennett have opened up a healthy lead.

Jan 13/04: No 400's for the first time this year. 3 matches of 4-4.
Slow week.

Jan 6/04: Matt Harnett 426, Tim Carrigan 423, Sean O'Flaherty 405.
Tim Carrigan made another strong night, but we couldn't help him
in the 3rd string (only got 4 pts). Chris Hollett had a rotten night,
but his team carried him to 4 points - winning the two strings he
rolled 106 games.

Dec 30/03: Wild night! Hollett had 442 vs Carrigan's 422.
Mark O'Laughlin had a 423 vs his brother David's 394 - but Mark's
team had 652-642-653 for 1947! Jim Coolen 400 and Matt Harnett 420
bowl with Mark. Todd Harrison had a 162. Jim Slaunwhite had a 175,
and lead his team to a 683. And…I have now modified my bowling
program so that it will DISPLAY EACH BOWLER's LEAGUE dues that
are outstanding on the SCORESHEETS. SHAME!!!! Trevor Vieth
also dropped in to spare, and he threw a 161.

Dec 23/03: Randy Slaunwhite 410, Tim Carrigan 405.
Muck Slaunwhite took over for Bill Bennett. And…Mike Powell
is still injured.

Dec 16/03: Chris Hollett 424, Tony MacLaughlin 418.

Dec 10/03: Ron Creighton, the long-time league member, passed away
this week at the age of 69. A bowler for many years, he had been
handling the league's money for many seasons. He will be missed.
Along with being an avid bowler, he also had a longtime association
with Neptune Theater.

Dec 9/03: Darrell Martin 414, Steve Harnet 413, Chris Hollett 402.
Peter Blackler had a 169 with a late triple strike, in order to STEAL
points from Chris Hollett's team.

Dec 2/03: First night of a new section. Mike Bennett had 435,
Matt Harnet 415, and Greg Lowe 406.

Nov 30/03: Sunday - to finish the section. Blackler's takes 1st, Hollett 2nd.
Redraft held on Sunday - but we are 3 bowlers short! Need 3 low
average bowlers FAST! 13 week section, $15/night. Preferably
right around 100! 95-100!

Nov 25/03: 70 pts for first, 65 for 2nd, 60 for 3rd. One week to
go. We bowl on Sunday at 9:00am.
Congrats to Chris Hollett 439 (he started each string with 4, 5, and
3 marks, respectively), Sean O'Flaherty (who finished with a 170,
where he had 8 marks - and missed a 9 pin break and an 8 pin
break for the other two), Todd Sisco 419, Steve Colbert 408,
and Pat Birchill 406.

Nov 18/03: Blackler's team got 8 - a virtually insurmountable lead.
Second place is up for grabs. Congratulations to Brad Given and
Steve Carpentier - 402 and 401, respectively. The lanes were DRY
in my opinion, and results varied widely as a result. Some high scores,
but many quite low. We bowl this Tuesday, then on Sunday at 9:00am,
I believe. Then the captains redraft. I WON'T have average sheets
for everyone, so either we find a photocopier, or suffer.

Nov 4/03: Blackler's team faltered a little - 24 points to go, he has
a 9 point lead. Congratulations to David Cooper's 438, Davey Somerton
429, and Mike Bennett's 405. No bowling this week, due to the World's.
The make up date is Sunday, Nov 30 - we will bowl 3, 6, or 9 strings.
To be announced on Nov 25 during the regular league.

Oct 28/03: Congratulations on Team Harrison's 1897, with 2 400's
and almost a 3rd. Doug Blackler's team has a COMMANDING lead
(I had a BAD night, sorry to say). John Harrietha 439, Doug Blackler 412,
Davey Somergon 409, Eric Banfield 409, and Russell Shannon 402.
Remember that the World's are fast approaching.

Oct 21/03: Round 1: Sean O'Flaherty 404, Tony MacLaughlin 400
(their teams bowled on the same lanes). Gerry Dunn tweaked his
back, and couldn't bowl the second round. Congratulations to
Mark O'Laughlin on his triple in a losing cause (made his team pay,
at least).

Round 2: Chris Hollett and Doug Blackler's team went 14/16 for the
night, to get some distance. However, they meet next week -
so it should be interesting. John Harrietha (410) and Greg Lowe (408)
were the only 400's. It was a bit slower in the second round than
the first - by midnight, people were far from being energetic.

Oct 14/03: Matt Harnet 420, and David Cooper 414, were the only
400's! On a quiet night, Team Blackler has continued its dominance
with another 8pts. Team Hollett had the high single and tripe -
beating out Doug's by 1 pin for the triple. This coming Tuesday is
a double, to make up for the storm night. Bowling starts at 6:30pm.

Oct 6/03: Brad Given 424, Mike Bennett 407, Sean O'Flaherty 403.
Lanes were much more quiet. Remember - it is less than a month
before the start of the 2003 Men's World Candlepin Championship
at Fairlanes! Spectators welcome! And, speaking as the statistician,
many thanks to the people at Aliant for their generous support.
NOTE: Thanks to their service, I intend to do a 'real-time' update
after every round! When the scores are done, I am going to post
them. No need to wonder about it any more - you will KNOW who
is leading (and who isn't).

Sept 30/03: BIG #($&*#@ HURRICANE. Juan shut down everything.
Even the bowling alleys! The horror! The HORROR!

Sept 23/03: Lanes are loose. Too loose. Too many 400's.
Davey Somerton 493 (150-148-195), Gerry Dunn 441, Mark O'Laughlin 400,
David O'Laughlin 405, Glenn Leblanc 418, Sean O'Flaherty 432,
Bobby Kyte 432. HOPEFULLY we will have foul lights back sometime soon.
Don't forget - the Men's World Championships are being held at Fairlanes.
Donnie Larade has officially dropped the league, and replaced (temporarily)
by Bill Bennett.

Sept 16/03: 400's everywhere! Chris Hollett 473, Gerry Dunn 447 - in two
weeks they had 906 and 890, respectively. Wow. Lots of other 400's,
Doug Blackler (everybody's favorite manager), Gerry Degraaf, Davey
Somerton. Doug said he is having the lanes done on Mondays, so that
might account for some of the looseness. That, or this is simply the
strongest league around, and the bowlers are PUMPED.

Sept 9/03: Everyone was warmed up. Chris Hollett 433,
Gerry Dunn 443 head-to-head with John Harrietha 447 (180),
Bobby Kyte 403, David O'Laughlin 401. Scores weren't done
promptly because of my brother's wedding (priorities, doncha know) -
congragatulations to Tim and Jael Cleveland!

Sept 3 /03: First night. Steve Colbert 174 (420), Bobby Kyte 400,
Todd Sisco 407, John Harrietha 406. The first night as a 14 team
league was a success - BUT remember that we are always looking
for spares. Our first redraft will be held during the week of Nov 25.
